So, first of all, let me introduce myself and explain the site’s name and what it’s all about. I’m David and have been a web developer in Dublin for the last 5 or so years. I’ve often found myself with friends in town looking for a nearby restaurant and been very dissatisfied with existing menu aggregators, especially their mobile side and location-specific searches. I think there’s so much more they could offer, both for customers and the restaurants themselves and I hope this site will ultimately provide alot of great functionality for both sides.
The name itself is a portmanteau of menu and microcosm, so menucosm is a microcosm of menus online! It’s so hard to come up with a good website name these days that also has the .com and Twitter names available. The logo is a knife and fork with a compass dial instead of a plate, to represent the location-specific search options the site will provide.
I hope this blog will contain a mixture of articles, from feature announcements to comments on the general restaurant scene, restaurant reviews and possibly even some technical stuff too. Feel free to get in touch by leaving a comment or sending me an email via the contact page.
While I don’t want to give too much away (yet!) about the features the site will have, please sign-up via the homepage for updates on when it’ll be launching, or follow the Twitter account.
